In church, theologians will tell you what to think and how to think it.The ceremonial fast has taught me that there is Great mystery in life. Going without food and water for four days and four nights isn't about a physical journey alone. It is a journey where the body informs the spirit, where the spirit leads the way. Although the days come and go for the first half, the second half is the place where nothing has a label, a category, where there are no words or even thoughts, only the awareness of a Great presence. The Mystery.One decides, makes a decision they will no longer judge others, they will be aware of jealousy and envy to release it, to let go of hatred, of blame, to become a compassionate person. When this intention is made, there is an opportunity to experience the Great Mystery, to follow the roots of heaven where the deep abiding silence has wings.
