Looking at the old northwest coast pieces, whether carved in wood, bone, stone or horn they speak of the meeting of the natural and supernatural worlds.  In the past two years, I've been experiencing an emptying, a burning away of the unnecessary sediment from childhood.This morning I was whining about being lonely and then I had an image of me with a broken arm (I think a play on a broken record!).  There's always something to reach and grasp for, to distract me from the fact that I'm on the back of the wolf and he is taking me to the fire.  No, I'm in the fire!Many blessings on you and your family in this new year.  May you come through the other side without the weight of childhood sorrows.  Peace and beauty.
