MICHELANGELO AND TRANSFORMATIVE TOUCH: image transfer
Michelangelo and Transformative Touch: 12"x9" mixed media on paper |
There are times in life when we need touch. As in Michelangelo's "Creation of Adam," compassionate touch can effect change not only physically but mentally, emotionally and spiritually as well. How often has a hand on the shoulder, on the forearm, or hand in a dance embrace helped one to settle and encouraged one to a place of stillness? Many, many times. And there's touch that is unseen, it comes when one is struggling with their own shortcomings or in attempts to shed shame of rejection--spiritual touch from a supernatural, external force--instills quietness, calm, peace and opens the heart. This painting is mixed media and image transfer. I've used gesso, crackle paste and moulding paste as the base, and layered soft hue with acrylic, watercolour, charcoal, and oil pastels to focus on Michelangelo's painting as an image transfer to express the spiritual, unseen touch that encourages the heart to stay open.
